beastmen or bretonnian or something

Necrons and nids are completely bland. Dark eldar have horrible miniatures, kroot are cool but practically non-existant.
Brets are a bunch of do-gooder nancy boys. Hard to make a DT army out of imo.

Beastmen of slaanesh would be quite appropriate!

Problem with that one is that I'll never mail it off, keep it all to myself (muwahahahahahaha).

Stingy!  haha.  THis is a good idea but I think it is just not as cool without GW tournaments anymore.  We can go to all the Indys and it still won't measure up.

I think the tourney's will be returning next year, giving us enough time to get the army ready.

I don't beleive it.  The inconsistency alone will hamper them now.

Ogres... meh. Unless we do, like, an empire themed ogre army.

I think part of it was Dave Taylor leaving and another part of wanting to restructure how they do it. Or I could be wrong and it was a cost saving move, which would be stupid thinking, which is how GW does most things.

It was a cost saving move. No doubt about it.

Quote from: gwuscommunity.com
Due to some restructuring within the business it has been decided that we will not be hosting or running any Games Workshop Grand Tournaments in the US this year.”

We know this will come as a disappointment to many who have enjoyed the resurgence in the GWGTs over the past two years, and as such this isn’t a decision we have entered into lightly.

This will give us the opportunity to step back and develop an even better experience and overall tournament circuit that will be able to apply to all of North America for 2010

Emphasis mine, linky.

A monkey could have organized those events...

I would love to see you do it. I'm not saying that only certain people can do it, but it takes a level of focus and determination that I feel not all of us have or are willing to put in over other activities.

It's a job.  Someone gets paid to do it.  I could do it better than it was done.  End.

David is correct, a chimp could run these things, or rather perhaps - a squig & grot herder!!!  You, yourself must supply your own living quarters, and food retrieval.  GW supplies the game boards, which I will admit, are a pain in the ass to 'lug' around BUT!!!  thats what its all about.  They also supply the rules, rent out the conference center, which YOU the participant pay for, and also the rules and regulations, judging etc.  It's not that complex of an issue, but it does take one thing that over the years I have heard grumblings about throughout the GW ranks, and that's commitment!  A willingness to show up and help out over the course of an entire weekend for more than likely a modest wage.
I always enjoyed the GT formats, no matter what they entailed - I'm sorry but GAMES DAY has become less than envigorating as a MUST SEE EVENT, its more like - if you have seen one, you've seen 'em all.  The only real reason to go is to see whats upcoming ( which has reaaaaally dwindled the last few years ) or admire all the 'Demon' painting participants.  The value of purchasing product at the store has decreased significantly.  In the early part of this decade I would go to GD & buy boxed sets 60%OFF!  That is NO fabrication, now most stuff at the very least was 25%OFF - hell, now nothing is even marked down............... save your gas, order what you need from independent retail for a price break, but as for the tourneys...... its up to the individual, with little support from the manufacturer.
