We are a new club with grand ideas on expanding the gaming experience for people that play Warhammer 40,000.

At the moment we are looking for people over 16 years of age interested in participating in a 40K tournament to be held in Ipswich, Queensland Australia (approximately 30 minutes west of Brisbane).

Although a firm date has not been set as we are looking to find out if people are interested in travelling over here, the last weekend in February 2007 has been pencilled in.

The tournament will be entirely dedicated to 40k and will follow NTS-3 rules and guidelines as set out by Games Workshop. We have decided on an 1850pts structure with 5 games to be played over 2 days but as yet have no pre-set number of tables, as this will be determined by the amount of interest generated by this letter and subsequent advertising.

Each player will receive a players pack with all the information they will need to know about the rules, sending in army lists, etc. In addition we will be adding to the pack, accommodation details (and deals if we can negotiate them) along with any other local information we believe might be of interest to visitors.

For awards we have decided to offer games workshop products as well as trophies (the amount of categories has yet to be determined.)

All entry fees (and a good deal of our own money) will go to paying for the hall, judges, prizes etc along with any other costs that may jump out of the woodwork.

This letter has been sent to as many clubs as we could find both in and outside of Australia. So if you're interested in a truly international tournament please let us know by emailing info@5000plusgames.com before the end of July 2006.

Even though we are truly keen on running an international tournament we unfortunately must limit entrants to those that speak fluent English. This is only to stop any problems that may arise due to a language barrier.

Look forward to hearing from you

Malcolm Hughes/Frank Treble

PS: Please feel free to pass this on to anyone that maybe interested.

Its too bad i can't afford travel to Australia.  The tournament sounds like a lot of fun and if its anything like the last one i was in, then it would be.

But shame i can't travel there, then again, i barely have enough cash to eat most days!

Last night, I dreamed patsy had the molds for the metal models and then we all danced (really).

3 Aussies! Or did you mean me when you said two aussies? Haha.. I know of Snook but no other! *shrugs*

Damm yeah I might be able to play in this tournament... Do the armies have to be fully painted? I ask this only coz I have a half painted Black Templar army and a Dark Eldar army that I have just started. Should be sweet by February though.. holla back y'all!

I live in Brisbane and have a car so I can make it!

I just have one question... where the hell do people get this '1850' number? It sounds totally arbitrary... 1750 I could understand, but 1850 makes no sense to me.

This is WARMACHINE- the battles game that kicks so much ass, we had to use all capital letters.

Yea indeed... its like not 2000 for special characters, and 1950 would make it too obvious maybe?
