Ok here is one of my favorite decks fun wise. Tell me what you think! theme: Phyrexian creatures Play: Lots of life gain, big creatures, substancial life loss as well.
Land: 14 plains 17 swamps
Atrifacts: 4 phyrexian processor 4 phyrexian walkers 4 howling mines
Multi colored: 4 soul links
Black: 2 currupt 4 phrexian Bloodstock 4 phyrexian Reaper 2 phyrexian rager 2 phyrexian battleflies 2 savage weaponry 1 phyrexian gargantuan
White: 4 life burst 2 reviving dose 2 healing salve 2 wall of hope 2 sacred nector 1 animal boneyard
-------------------
this actually had more life gain in it but i took it out because i found the combo of using 2 phyrexian proccessors to pump out 20/20 or higher creatures and then sac them to animal boneyard. It works wonders

Looks pretty good, you may want to consider getting some duel lands though. I know one of the recent sets has white/black painlands (I think its Apocolypse).

My version of your deck would be: 4 Scrubland 4 Bloodstained Mire (makes it easier to find Scrublands & thins out the deck on lands) 10 Swamps 7 Plains 1 Strip Mine (always useful)
Artifact: 4 Phyrexian Processor (well it´s the combo) 4 Phyrexian Walker (great early blocker) 1 Nevinyral´s Disc (to be able to reset the board) 1 Zuran Orb (useful in late game & together with the Processor)
Black Spells: 1 Demonic Tutor (finds any card you want) 1 Vampiric Tutor (as above) 3 Phyrexian Arena (to keep with the phyrexian theme & still get good card drawing) 4 Night´s Whisper (Great Card Drawing) 4 Duress (Great at disturbing your opponents play, can fetch a counterspell from your opponent when you´re about to play the processor)
White Spells 4 Swords to Plowshares (Can handle any creature & useful if you do it on your own creature to gain huge amounts of life) 4 Life Burst (best life gain in the deck) 4 Wall of Hope (Great early in the game) 2 Animal Boneyard (You know why the´re here)
Multicolour 4 Death Grasp (way better than Corrupt in a multicoloured deck) 4 Soul Link (well spiritlink could be used aswell, just choose these because I knew you had them)
The combo is more straightforward, with less cards, Better lifegain & ability to take out your opponents threats aswell...

Yes I know it´s tourneylegal, but it won´t be good in any real tournaments when up against decks such as TPS, Staks, Control slaver, Hulksmash, Oath & Teentitans, which are all controldecks that win consistently on turn 3 (some of them such as TPS can win in turn 1).
I was just trying to help you, but nevermind...
What cards did the controlplayer use?

Thats exactly why i stopped playing magic. Having combos that will kill you on the first turn is just not fun to play against.

That's the reason I stopped playing constructed. I only do limited now. In construction it is all about what cards you have and combos. Limited takes strategy.

He was using a standard counterspell wizard deck with a bit of creature steal. Kept countering my life gain spells, and then snatching creatures. I can't remember exact cards anymore cuz it's been a long time since i've actively played magic much less a tourny.

Actually it takes a lot more skill than you can think in constructed, sure luck is a factor aswell, but you have to know when to mulligan or not, exactly which spell to counter etc. Luck is also a factor in limited where it depends on what cards is in your booster, what colour the ones next to you chooses and so on.
