2  Off Topic / Discussion Board / Your "Z" plan on: August 06, 2007, 11:05:09 AM
I like in a fairly rural area. If a zombie outbreak occured, I would simply gather all my farm-dwelling high school friends who would be useful (the hunters and survival type guys) to one remote location using our cellphones. Between them and their families there would be 10+ heavy trucks, semi-enclosed grain trucks and tractors to get to town during raids with. And we could take cattle transport trailers to tansport all of our vital belongings in. Most people in south-Saskatchewan that I know own at least one gun of some form. High-powered shotguns and hunting rifles are particuarily common where I live due to the high rural population and the abundant hunting.

We would therefore already have guns and vehicles, not to mention cattle and sheep to eat if we went back to their ranches on raids and stole any surviving livestock. Also, power outages are very very common here due to the bad winter weather, so many people have portable and/or diesel powered generators we could use for power. If we were all in one area I think we could survive for quite a long time, although there are no places to steal night vision goggles/extra hardware/etc. from. If the damn zombies came in truly overwhelming numbers, we could just load up the grain trucks and cattle trailers and move out.

As for wood and other supplies, we could just raid the small towns around here. All of them have gas stations which sell lumber and propane, so we'd be set.

Plus, I live near the US border. I'm sure that ifthe zombies in the states were cleared up and the Canadian zombies were threatening to invade the US there would be a large armed prescence on the border that we could just hide beside.

EDIT: Yes I know this thread was old but it was at the top so I figured  might as well post since no one else was

I can't wait to field an entire death guard legion lead by typhus with a hoard of LatD at his side.

*drools*

That would be sweet... Apocalypse looks to be very, very awesome

I know this is a thread necro... but I had to say that I actually laughed at the dead hamster under the wheel story

As for that Armageddon story, it was featured in the Darwin Awards but I can't remember if it was Confirmed or not :/

Playing my friends Catachans with Welcome To The Jungle is always amusing And of course Metallica has good songs for wargaining (Seek And Destroy- Kill Em All, I Dissapear, Four Horsemen). And Pride by SOiL fits when you're killing stuff imo...

Eldar (I play a normal Eldar Codex version of Biel-Tan)

Well, that doesn't seem like much fun.

Well the Craftworld Eldar book isn't even legal now

And actually the army works and I like it I just use all 3 elite spots, and DAs for troops. Add in some tanks and WS' (for the 'Swordwind' feel) and that's pretty much the army

Also I like the flexibility of the codex, without certain disadvantages of the CE Codex (Like Thanatoz suggested). It may seem 'generic', but the army definately has an obvious theme (composition-wise and looks-wise)

Well... my Eldar are, well, Biel-Tan themed I really can't say anything more than that... they're just typical Biel-Tan, although I used a flame pattern (white on green) on the Wraithlord and tanks, which is sorta unusual for Eldar I guess.

10  Other Gaming Systems / Other Wargames / Urban War, any good ? on: February 11, 2007, 05:40:15 PM
I tried looking into it a little while ago, just to see what it was about, but I couldn't find much info on it.

Those minis look awesome! Too bad they're prepainted... I suppose you could always do what it says on the front page of the site and re-paint them lol. I want to see what other armies they come up with.

Edit: I read the rules. It seems like it would be fun, and the rules are simple enough as to not be confusing. But they aren't too clear on some things.

I don't know if this is a necro (last post was about two weeks ago) because there haven't been an exceptional # of new posts lately from what I can see, so hopefully it doesnt bother you too much. If this is a necro... sorry >.<
---

1) What army did you choose?
Eldar (I play a normal Eldar Codex version of Biel-Tan)

2) Why did you choose your army when you started it?
One of my friends already played Tau, which was my initial first choice. So I went for the next high-tech seeming race. Plus I liked their history of a fallen empire and a race struggling to survive, and the fact that the GW website said they had a fast, elite force.

3) Do you still find your first reasons viable?
Yeah, I guess.

4) What kind of tactics do you normally use?
I ussually try to go for a full out attack (close combat) with vehicles/elites supported by "artillery" (Wraithlord and Guardians with HWPs). I like high-damage attacks (hence the Fire Prism I use against motre heavily armored oponents, and my Fire Dragons).

5) Are these different from the 'normal way' the army is played?
Somewhat. Most people I've seen either go for a "fast hitting" army, an elite army, or a shooty army when playing Eldar. My strategy is mosly the first two combined.

6) Do you still think your army is 'coolest' or 'best'?
Yes Although I play as my brother's necrons occasionally against my friends, and like their "ancient evil" story. Plus I really want to start a Daemonhunter army eventually, as I like their elite style and noble-but-arrogant (much as the Eldar are from their own way) shiny feel.
.
7) Would you make the same choice at this moment?
Yes. Go Eldar!

8 What kind of style army/tactics do you like best?
I like elite units, speed, and massive firepower (this is my army is centered around ).
