New Hordes Warlock: Kaya the Moonhunter & Laris

KayaImage

"Once Kaya relied solely on her instincts. Now she has been initiated into ancient rites that reveal the power the moon exert on the blood of all predators. Her command of these mysteries has brought her a new companion in the form of a ghostly white wolf. This inseparable pair stalks the battlefields of Immoren with spell, spear, and fang to bring low the foes of the Circle Orboros."

PrivateerPress increases miniature prices

PrivateerPress has announced increasing their miniature prices.

They give the following reasons:
"Consumers of metal miniatures have noticed that the price of non-ferrous metals has experienced a sharp upward trend over the last few years. At Privateer Press, we diligently monitor the cost of the metal and price our new products appropriately based on current rates. Unfortunately, the cost of metal has skyrocketed over the past couple years. As well, rising gas prices have dramatically increased shipping costs, the repercussions of which can be seen everywhere with the general inflation that affects all of us. As a result, we are in a position where we must increase the prices of older models in order to keep them profitable. We continue to do everything we can to combat raising prices, from purchasing more efficient equipment, buying metal in bulk, and training our staff in an effort to create a more efficient production process. You’ll be seeing some amazing and innovative ways that we’re engineering the models in the future to decrease metal usage. While these measures have mitigated the increased price of metal and have allowed us to stave off adjusting prices for a while, these efforts are unable to completely neutralize rising costs. In order to continue the production of certain items, we must adjust their MSRP to reflect the material’s current price, which constitutes the largest portion of their manufacturing cost. The graph below comes from the London Metal Exchange, displaying the rise in tin prices since January of 2003 when we first started manufacturing. (http://www.lme.co.uk/) At the time of our last price adjustment on January 1, 2007, the price of tin was about $7.00 per pound. The current cost is approximately $11.00 per pound, an almost 50% increase in under 18 months.

We are as loathe to adjusting these prices just as you, the consumer, are to see it happen. We are currently exploring a variety of other manufacturing methods that we hope will lead towards a savings on the cost of manufacturing and the ability to stabilize prices. This includes alternative metals as well as plastic components for the model kits. In any event, commitment to quality remains our primary consideration so that no matter what material we use to manufacture, Privateer Press will continue to deliver the highest quality miniatures to you.
Effective July 1st, a significant number of the models found in the WARMACHINE and HORDES product ranges will receive an increase to their MSRP. The complete list, along with their new prices, is available here.

Privateer Press looks forward to a strong and exciting future for our hobby, and to the continued support of the many players, retailers, and distributors who have helped WARMACHINE and HORDES grow over the past five years. Thank you for your continued support. Please direct questions to:frontdesk@privateerpress.com"

Logging in and password reset requests issues

It seems several members have issues logging into the new site and also aren't getting their password reset e-mails.

If your password has stopped working after the transfer to the new site, or because you might have simply forgotten it, you can first try to request a password reset. You can do this by clicking the 'login' link above the quick login fields at the top left, and then clicking the 'forgot password' link. Once there you'll need to enter your username or the e-mail address you registered with. Make sure that the 'Ask me my question' box is unchecked as no one will have a question set, and click ok. What this does is that it sends a link to the e-mail address you registered with. By following this link, you will be able to set a new password for your account and log back in. The e-mail it sends will come from DaSkorpion @ DiceTroll . com, so make sure your spam filter will allow e-mails to pass from that address (mind the extra blanks I added when copy/pasting). I did test this procedure with a new account and it seems to be working like a charm.

If the above procedure however doesn't work for you, please do the following:
Send an e-mail from the address you registered with which includes your account name and a request to reset your password to DaSkorpion @ DiceTroll . com (again, mind the extra blanks I added when copy/pasting).
You MUST send it from the address you used to register on DT. Other addresses will not be accepted.
I will then try to manually reset your password and send it to you within a couple of days.

Update 11/06: So far only one password request received.
Update 12/06: If you haven't gotten a new password yet, I probably did not get the request or the e-mail I sent has gone missing. Please try sending your request again if this would be the case.

DiceTroll v3.0 is up!

Yeah, that’s right; the new version of DiceTroll is up! And it’s not just a skin change, but an entire new piece of software! Where we were running on FuseTalk and Coldfusion for all those past years, we are now running on SMF and PHP. And isn’t it about time.

As you all can see, the new skin/layout is a whole lot darker than the one we were used to. Personally I always liked the lighter layouts, but due to many requests for dark layouts this is what I came up with. And I must say I’m quite pleased with the result myself. Some might say blue is gay, so for those select few I may some day create a purple layout.

With the new layout there’s also a whole new logo. Some of you might have seen it already on the t-shirts HGT had made, but from now on it is officially our new logo! The logo was created some time ago by Andy, a good mate of Snook.

DT Logo

The new version also comes with a brand new gallery and this here news page. The gallery has all kinds of new functions such as the ability to sort by rating, views, and date. And when you open an image, it will now just pop up in the same window without a refresh!

If you encounter any problems, errors, bugs, or if you have any suggestions, please post them in the bug section.

All which remains to be said now is;
Happy browsing!
